My Little Cabin in the Luberon
More than thirty years ago, I discovered the village of Gordes, and it was love at first sight.
Immediately, I dreamed of owning a small piece of land in the region…
The blue of the sky and lavender fields, the vineyards, the oaks, pines and cypress trees, the charming villages, the beautiful stone houses — everything enchanted me.
Then one day, much later, while I was in Lacoste presenting a play I was to perform at the next festival organized by Pierre Cardin, I met again my friend Jean-Christophe Rosier, who told me with a wonderfully confident smile: “I’ve found the cabin of your dreams!”
That very morning, he had learned that a farmer from a nearby village, just a few kilometers from Gordes, had decided to part with a small agricultural cabin set on terraced land.
There is no such thing as chance, only encounters — with people as with places.
At the very top of the village, near the cedar forest, I discovered MY cabin, nestled in the middle of an olive grove…
I have always had a passion for trees, and for olive trees in particular.
My heart was pounding as I breathed deeply, my gaze stretching far toward the Alpilles and the Luberon mountains.
In that moment, I understood that I had found my little corner of paradise.
I never tire of admiring the beauty of this nature: the red, yellow and violet carpets of poppies, sunflowers and lavender fields, the scent of fig trees and wild thyme, the everlasting flowers I gather along the paths…
Gratitude.
