The mas, Provencal architecture

A mas is originally a farm. You can find some in the Luberon area. Thanks to the rural agricultural economic life, the farmhouse is now often renovated and used as a prestigious house or luxury seasonal rentals for some years.

The mas is a mansion with typical materials of Provence.

The size of it varies according to the wealth and number of its original occupants, and most of the time includes outbuildings. In a straight and elongated form with sometimes an L-shaped return, the mas generally comprises one or two floors.
